While every Bosnian I know is now in Bosnia or packing their backs to leave for Bosnia, I’m just sitting here and looking through pictures from Sarajevo to satisfy my cravings 🙈
ersonally, I don’t want to go to Bosnia every year like many others. It’s more stressful than relaxing.
ut we all have our reasons…
However, when we’re in Sarajevo we always need to stop by three places. It’s like the trend with the gym. If you don’t take pictures to prove you’ve been there you haven’t worked out! Ha ha
1. Ćevabdžinica Željo
actually don’t even like ćevapi like many others, but this I can manage. With jogurt/kiselo mlijeko and extra portion of sour cream.
2. Buregdžinica Bosna
f you want to taste the best pita (Burek, Sirnica, Krompiruša, Zeljanica) it’s here! Wow – if you’ve ever seen the hashtag #foodporn THIS IS IT. I prefer to have sour cream on the side.
Info: 250g is a normal portion. Don’t do a rookie mistake like me and my friend back in 2009. I wanted a little bit of everything and I only managed to eat half of it. Due to the sour cream on top I didn’t want it to go. Well, that was the most embarrassing moment ever.
3. Vatra (Caffe slastičarna)
The best pancakes in Sarajevo with Nutella, one spoon of ice cream and whipped cream. Oh my Gosh…
The best pastry / cake experience! They even have macaroons.
If you’re only in the city for a very shot period – let’s say a day – then go to Željo or Bosna for lunch and/or dinner, and go to Vatra or Mrtvica by night or in between. You have to go all in!
I wish you all a great summer 2017 ❤️
